Brettski walked into the neon-lit casino with a crisp $2000 in his pocket, his heart racing with anticipation. He’d been planning this night for weeks. He was in it for the thrill, but more than that, he was hoping to walk away with enough to quit his boring 9-to-5 job and live a little.

The high-stakes slot machines glittered ahead, their flashing lights promising untold riches. He took a deep breath and slid a crisp hundred-dollar bill into one of the machines. The spinning wheels started, and for a moment, the world disappeared. His eyes were locked on the screen as the reels blurred together. He hit the button again—another hundred gone. No jackpot.

Frustrated, Brettski stood up and moved to the high-stakes table games. The atmosphere here was different: smooth-talking dealers, the clinking of chips, and the quiet tension in the air. He had just enough for one solid bet at the blackjack table. His palms were sweaty as he placed his chips down.

“Good luck, sir,” the dealer said with a smile.

Brettski nodded, his heart pounding. The dealer dealt the cards, and Brettski looked at his hand: a ten and a six. Not terrible, but risky. He decided to hit.

“21!” the dealer announced.

A surge of hope rushed through him. He’d won this round. But just as he felt the rush of adrenaline, the casino floor buzzed with energy, and Brettski knew he needed to make one more big move to walk away a winner.

But was he on a streak? Or was it all about to come crashing down? He glanced at his remaining chips, then at the slots across the room—tempting him again.

The decision hung in the air.

Would he risk it all again?
